Tabling and more!

Wow! Although I was pretty knackered, the tabling event was really fun and awesome, a BIG thanks to Eric Jensen, Kiva Stevens and Meredith Stevenson for donating their time to the tabling and a big thanks to everyone who came out! I hope there are some new readers who were inspired and interested and some people that have read this and might want to come out next Wednesday! We can totally build this up! There is tons of potential, lets really draw our strengths and talents in to MAKE THIS POSSIBLE! It could be ANYTHING, how exciting is that?!

Along with our awesome brochures, pins and petition sheet, we had a petition to get Chick-fil-a OFF CAMPUS. There has been a lot of talk about this and I wanted to start something, get a feel for the interest and turns out there was a fair amount from the folks that came over. For people who would like to learn more about this issue, check out This overview of Chick-fil-a as a whole and this article to get an idea of why you may not want them!

The University of Illinois has banned Chick-Fil-A as did University of Iowa and Indiana although those decisions were overturned a month later (approx). We want to get an idea of how students on Western's campus feel about this issue. Is Chick-Fil-A something that you would support? Below are some more links to give a comprehensive view on this issue.

I urge you to research the issue yourself, see where you stand, and share it. There are many different points of view on this issue and as a campus community, we should all have this discourse. If not to kick them off, perhaps a boycott? We are the majority in this institution, we should be heard!

Western's information when Chick-Fil-A came to WWU

Conflicting stories, evidence, ect but somewhere in there, overlap exists. So please, read, share, talk!

There will be future tabling events, I actually had a LOT of fun doing it and time flew by! Could have been because I am quite tired but I reckon it has more to do with the fun aspect : D SO, if you didn't get a chance to stop by today, DON'T WORRY. I forgive you, as long as you come next week! Just stop by for a quick minute, hear what we have to say, pick up a brochure! We appreciate your support and want you to be a part of this big, lovely community of people who care about the future and the direction our larger community is taking. We CAN be a part of the change :)

  1. Holy Cow - I was totally expecting those links to be about food, or nutrition, or unhealthy college students, but woah!

So no, Chick-fil-A is not something I would support, firstly because it's fast food and the whole string of food and health and environmental considerations that come with it, and secondly for its anti-gay sentiments and actions.
